When is the building open?
Normal operating hours are 8am to 10pm Monday to Friday. These are the hours when security staff are on site.
Can I access the office after hours or on the weekends?
To open the building on the weekends or past normal operating hours, security and custodial services must be requested at SEO's expense. If your team is interested in using the office on a weekend, put in a support ticket by emailing REAsupport@seo-usa.org 3 weeks in advance. The RE&A Team will coordinate with building management to schedule required services.
Notes:
- If security staff is not on site, we should not be in the building.
- Full-time permanent SEO staff do have access to the building outside of normal operating hours (with a valid staff ID). If absolutely necessary, these staff members may access the building after hours or on weekends to briefly to pick up or drop off materials. However, staff should not work from the building without security staff on site.
- Visitors, guests and participants are strictly prohibited without security presence.
Where should I go for lunch?
Check out the Neighborhood Map for lots of suggestions, as well as public outdoor spaces, shops and other places near the office!
What if I order food to be delivered?
All deliveries must be picked up downstairs in the lobby.
Where can I eat at the office?
Enjoy your lunch and coffee at the new 6th floor pantry and cafe area! We have silverware, plates, bowls, and mugs available. Please just remember to clean up afterwards and place in the dishwasher.
If the weather's nice, there are also several outdoor seating areas in the neighborhood (see the Neighborhood Map for details).
What happens if staff don’t clean up after themselves in the pantries?
We’ll start with friendly reminders of pantry protocols and expectations of shared staff space. If a pattern of messiness continues or leads to an infestation of unwanted critters, we may have to limit access to pantries or shut pantries down entirely.
When will pantries be cleaned?
Everyone using the pantries are expected to clean up after themselves. The pantries will be closed on Mondays from 8am - 10am for service cleaning staff.
How will office keys work now?
In general, keys should no longer leave the SEO office. Instead, teams will use combination lockboxes to securely store keys on site.
Several teams with existing office or closet keys have already been provided a lockbox in the 6th floor Shipping Room.
Put in a support ticket by emailing REAsupport@seo-usa.org if your team is interested in a lockbox.
For access to the basement, please connect with your Department Rep.
Where can I find supplies at the office?
The following supply areas will be readily available to staff. The RE&A team will regularly inventory and restock the areas listed below to ensure staff have access to supplies needed for day-today work.
- 4th and 6th pantries: cleaning supplies, paper products, coffee/ tea/ water, medication, disposable utensils/ plates/ cups, etc. See Office map in Robin for locations
- 6th floor Shipping Room: typical office supplies for day-to-day use (i.e. tab folders, tape, pens, post-it notes, etc.) as well as the postage machine and shipping supplies.
- Sanitation stations on each floor
How do I find bulk supplies for things like events or mailings?
Bulk supplies need to be ordered. Here are two options:
- Put in a support ticket by emailing REAsupport@seo-usa.org to request assistance from the RE&A Team.
- Many teams have set up an Amazon for Business Group for their department within SEO’s main account to facilitate direct ordering. Please see your Department’s Amazon point person or put in a support ticket by emailing REAsupport@seo-usa.org if your team would like to create one.
How does trash & recycling work?
Both trash and recycling are placed in the same receptacles. The building's vendor for waste removal sorts out recyclables at their facility.
Please be kind to our custodial staff by following the following guidelines:
- Do not overfill trash receptacles or trash bags. A typical person should be able to easily lift the receptacle or individual bag.
- We have large trash bags available when needed. Check the pantries, ask in 6th floor reception or our building staff for assistance.
- Break down cardboard boxes please!
- Label items as "Trash" that are next to a trash receptacle for removal (custodial staff will leave items if they're not sure).
- Our building manager, Shaun Leverock, will schedule bulk trash pick-ups as needed for bulk or potentially hazardous materials, such as furniture, E-Waste or construction materials. These materials should not be included with regular trash.
Is alcohol allowed at SEO onsite events?
Alcohol is not allowed at SEO onsite events.
Who keeps our building running behind the scenes?
Building Management: Shaun Leverock. Shaun knows our building better than anyone. He makes sure all building systems are operational, manages building staff and is our main point of contact for building work orders. Put in a support ticket by emailing REAsupport@seo-usa.org if your team need Shaun's assistance.
Front Desk Security: James and Garth are our two main staff. James is there in the morning and Garth is in most afternoons and evenings. They're also our Fire Safety Directors who will make announcements over the building's speakers during an emergency or fire drill. You can reach them at 646-442-1098 or 55security@seo-usa.org.
Custodial staff: Alex, Julian and Sadete are the building's main custodial staff members. They usually arrive at 5pm and do most of the clean up after staff have left for the day.
Are bikes allowed?
Currently due to renovation, there is no designated location for bike storage.
