emergency hits our community? This document is our policies and procedures guide for being

Purpose & limitations
o Provide guidance and training to help ensure an effective internal SEO
emergency response and keep our people as safe as possible.
o Limitations: We rely on trained professionals to manage overall emergency
response, such as public safety or security staff at our offices. We also still
need to alert appropriate emergency services and security personnel.
Major components
o Emergency Protocols & Preparedness measures: Policies and procedures for
emergencies at physical SEO offices and Scholars programming sites.
o AlertMedia: SEO’s Emergency Communication Platform
o SEO Airborne Infectious Disease Exposure Prevention Plan: SEO’s plan should
an airborne infectious disease impact SEO office and/ or Scholars
programming locations, in accordance with the New York HERO Act.
o SEO Business Continuity Plan: SEO’s plan should a major event occur that
prevents normal operations as well as how SEO would recover from a
business interruption.
The Safety Committee will review this document semiannually to ensure safety
protocols are up to date. Every member of the Safety Committee will have digital
access to this document via Box.
SEO Emergency Communication
o In the event of an emergency, staff will receive a text message, email, app
notification, or phone call from our Emergency Communication platform,
AlertMedia.

o Public Safety or security personnel will also activate building safety systems
when necessary.
